Emefiele appeared before the court on 20 charges
The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria -CBN, Godwin Emefiele appeared in court today Thursday to answer to the 20 charges of corruption against him.
Government lawyers have filed new charges against him that are related to 'using his office to award illegal contracts'.
Emefiele is accused of conspiring with an employee of the central bank and another company to buy 98 armored vehicles without following the rules of awarding contracts.
According to reports, the accused woman is a director of the CBN bank and so far they have not responded to these allegations.
In June, President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele and the authorities brought him before a court in Lagos on charges of illegal possession of arms, although he denied the allegations.
