Gabon has suspended the activities of French media outlets in the country
Officials in Gabon have temporarily suspended French government media outlets including TV5 Monde, France 24 and Radio France International (RFI).
This happened because officials believe that the stations did not show justice and equality during the general election that took place on Saturday.
Radio France expressed its concern about the problems after the election, especially because of the lack of internet and the imposition of curfew.
A government spokesman, Rodrigue Mboumba Bissawou, said the internet was shut down and curfew imposed to prevent the spread of violence after the election.
On Sunday, the company that owns the suspended television stations, France Médias Monde, said it "regrets and is surprised by this temporary suspension which will deprive the people of Gabon of reliable news and information."
Gabon's electoral commission has not yet announced the results of the election.
Foreign election observers and journalists were also banned from reporting on the election.
