While ECOWAS decided on the date to send its troops to Niger, after a two-day meeting in Accra, the leader of the GUM opposition party, Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews has threatened to protest if the Government of Ghana gives ECOWAS troops to fight in Niger.

Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrews popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, made this statement at a press conference in Accra.

"We are here to advise and sign this document regarding the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, not to follow ECOWAS in sending the Ghanaian Army to Niger. We will not support him as Ghanaians. I tell Akuffo Addo and every Ghanaian that we should stay away from this useless decision by ECOWAS to send our soldiers to Niger. No one should gamble with the lives of our soldiers. And if the President refuses to listen to us If something happens, we GUM party members will start a protest against the president and his government."

On the other hand, the leader of the main opposition party in Ghana (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has warned the president of the country, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, against sending the Ghanaian army to Niger, which is suffering from a coup in the current situation. .

Asiedu Nkatia said he will tell the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo and all Ghanaians to take care not to take the lives of our fellow soldiers and gamble with them, on this point which is not useful at all.

Also, the majority of Ghanaians do not have the idea of sending soldiers to fight in Niger.

Mallam Adib Sani, an expert on security and international political issues, said that looking at the problems of economic deterioration and security problems that have afflicted West African countries, especially Nigeria, which is suffering from Boko Haram and other terrorist groups, and the problem of lack of security from the northeast of Ghana, no war can happen.
