Nigeria Air Will Start Operation In October —Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopia Airlines has said that the controversial Nigeria Air flight will begin operations in October 2023.

LEADERSHIP previously reported that the new aircraft was launched in 2018 in London and was re-launched in May 2023, under the leadership of the former Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.

However, reports show that Ethiopian Airlines owns 49 percent of Nigeria Air, while the federal government has 5 percent, leaving 46 percent of the investors in Nigeria.

Speaking to Bloomberg TV, the chief executive officer of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, Mesfin Tasew, said the company will start operating soon.

Tasew said, "The airline will start operating with two planes. We want to see the plane take off for domestic and international business.”

Ethiopian Airlines will manage its operations. The main objective is to give Nigeria the freedom to operate air transport.

"We have 49 percent of the airline, the Nigerian government has five percent, and other institutional investors have the rest.

Tasew expressed his optimism for the growth of the Nigerian economy.

Nigeria Air will start domestic flights and will expand to West African cities and major cities including London, New York, and Shanghai.
