Obama Foundation Scholarship Initiative
Columbia University's Obama Foundation Scholars Program brings together up-and-coming leaders from the US and throughout the globe who have shown a dedication to solving problems in their communities and nations. After completing a nine-month, fully-funded residency on the Columbia World Projects campus, scholars expand their knowledge and skill set and create new networks and capacities to hasten their effect.
The immersive program that combines academic, skill-based, and experiential learning is offered to scholars. It was created by Columbia University in collaboration with the Obama Foundation. Important parts of the curriculum consist of:
Over the course of the academic year, a weekly seminar will be held to explore issues related to major global phenomena such as population shifts, inequality, technology advancements, power dispersion, and climate change.
Both Individual and Organizational Growth workshops aimed at bolstering the practical abilities that will improve Scholars' capacity for leadership. Resilience, public speaking, data analysis and interpretation, and conflict management and resolution have all been covered in previous workshops.

Audited Coursework gives scholars the freedom to choose and sign up for up to two graduate-level classes at Columbia per semester.
A Thought Leadership Speaker Series that broadens Scholars' networks and perspectives to further their work by introducing them to seasoned practitioners from philanthropic, government, and international organizations; this helps the Scholars progress their work.
Collaboration with a Columbia faculty adviser chosen for their subject-matter competence to offer scholars fresh viewpoints and ideas to guide their work.

Scholars engage in a comprehensive, intensive program that encompasses a variety of activities, such as networking, mentoring from Columbia faculty advisers, and developing values-based leadership. Through these opportunities, the Scholars can engage with Columbia University and the Obama Foundation while also learning from some of the most creative leaders in the world.

Obama Foundation Scholars are housed at Columbia World Projects (CWP), a program that brings together academics and researchers from the university to collaborate with corporations, communities, governments, and organizations to address global issues. Academic year-long CWP activities are taken part in by scholars. The program serves as the foundation for CWP's objective to teach the next generation of global leaders to effect global change, therefore putting Columbia research into practice.
Obama Foundation Scholars return to their work regions once the program ends, emboldened by their experience, and carry on with their service careers. The program's goal is to assist Obama Foundation Scholars in applying the relationships and knowledge they gain to the good of their communities, nations, and areas. After the program ends, Obama Foundation Scholars are expected to stay involved with Columbia World Projects and the Obama Foundation.
