Our government will not accept any more debt - Nigeria's finance minister
The Nigerian government has said that it has no intention of taking on debt in or out of the country, after removing fuel subsidies and tightening the foreign exchange system.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Chief Wale Edun stated this at the end of the first National Executive Council meeting on Monday in Abuja.
He said that the profit obtained from the removal of fuel subsidy will be invested in different sectors that will help to increase the revenue for the government and improve business in the country and get investment from abroad.
Wale Edun said that after the increase in revenue obtained as a result of the removal of fuel subsidies, measures have been taken to alleviate the pain of the short, medium and long term.
He emphasized that the government of President Bola Tinubu is keen to revive the Nigerian economy from the difficult situation it is in in a short time.
