Ousmane Sonko was rushed to the intensive care unit
Those close to the Senegalese opposition leader, Ousmane Sonko - who is on hunger strike - said he was rushed to the intensive care unit to take care of his health.
A member of Ousmane Sonko's Pastef party, Ousseynou Ly said "Mr. Sonko started to feel ill on Wednesday night".
The Pastef party said that the Senegalese authorities are to blame for everything that happened to Sanko.
The Senegalese authorities have not released any statement on Ousmane Sonko's condition.
He planned to run for the presidency in the country's elections that will be held in February, but he has been involved in a political crisis with the authorities since 2021, when an investigation was launched on the corruption allegations against him by the government.
In June, Sanko was sentenced to two months in prison, in what he claimed was a political coup.
The incident caused protests from his supporters, and led to the death of 24 people, as confirmed by Amnesty International.
A month later, he was arrested and charged the following week on charges of inciting violence.
