A group of people burned down churches on the grounds of insulting religion in Pakistan
The police in Pakistan said that thousands of Muslims burned down four churches and destroyed some houses after two Christians desecrated the Holy Quran.
Residents of the city of Jaranwala in East Punjab said that some ten buildings near the churches were also burnt.
Police are detaining more than 100 protesters and have launched an investigation into the conflict.
Authorities said the shooting was ongoing, but assured that no one had been killed.
The security officers also filed a complaint against a Christian resident of the area, after accusing him of insulting religion, a crime punishable by death under the country's law.
Although Pakistan has never carried out the death penalty for blasphemy, such crimes often lead to protests and violence, and even the killing of those accused of the crime.
