Removal of Fuel Subsidy: Zulum Will Give Food Subsidy to 1.8 Million People in Borno
In his effort to reduce the hardships caused by the removal of fuel subsidies, the Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has launched a new program to support 300,000 households, in which at least six people live in each household (a total of 1.8 million people). needy across the state.
Also, Governor Zulum launched the distribution of food items last Thursday at the Refugee Camp in Muna in Jere Local Government Area of the state.
The governor stated that the state has started the distribution of subsidies since last month, in order to implement the president's policy, after announcing the distribution of food to the people as a result of the removal of fuel subsidies.
"Recently, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced an emergency plan to distribute food to the people of this country. In order to ensure that we implement this decision of the Federal Government to ease the hardships caused by the removal of oil subsidies, we are determined to support 300,000 households with food items." Said Zulum.
He announced that the state has started distributing the aid in Gwoza town with three other towns in Kukawa Local Government which include Baga, Kros Kauwa and Doron Baga.
Zulum said that every person who is eligible to receive the grant will receive N5,000, a bag of rice, a bag of beans and an additional package (for women).
