The delegation of the Organization of West African Nations, that is ECOWAS, has arrived in the western city of the Republic of Niger to meet with the soldiers who made a coup in the country. The delegation led by the former military leader of Nigeria, General Abdusalami Abubakar, also included the Sultan of the country, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar along with some ECOWAS officials.

The Prime Minister appointed by the military, Ali Muhammad Lamine Zeine, received the delegation at the Western Airport after arriving in the country, while reports state that she was expected to meet with the military leader who led the coup, General Abderahmane Tchiane and President Bazoum Mohammed.

This is the second visit of this delegation to Niger, after the previous one, which was received by the head of the army.

This visit also comes a day after the conclusion of the meeting of the military chiefs of West African countries which took place in Ghana.

The chiefs said that they have completed all necessary plans to restore civilian rule in Niger, the only thing they are waiting for is an order from the leaders of the countries who are continuing to take diplomatic measures to ensure that military action is avoided.

During the visit of Islamic religious scholars from Nigeria last week, under the leadership of Sheikh Bala Lau, the army expressed to them the intention to discuss with ECOWAS and the need to see the country remove the economic sanctions imposed on Niger.
