The former president of Nigeria will lead the ECOWAS meeting with the Niger army

The Organization of West African Nations, that is ECOWAS, has appointed the former president of Nigeria, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, as the head of the delegation that will go to Niger tomorrow, Wednesday, to meet with the soldiers who made the coup.

A source from the ECOWAS or CEDEAO Center in Abuja said that among those who will join the delegation is His Eminence the Sultan of Nigeria, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar.

This will be the first delegation from ECOWAS to meet with the army after the visit of the President of Chad, General Mahamat Idriss Deby, where he met with the head of the army that made the coup, General Abderahmane Tchiani, President Bazoum Mohammed and the former President kasda Mahamadou Issofou.

The team is expected to introduce the new leaders of Niger's military to the status of ECOWAS regarding the coup and to hear from them regarding the message they will give.

The leaders of the ECOWAS countries expressed their disapproval of the coup that removed President Bazoum Mohammed from power, and held an emergency meeting at the weekend to adopt a unified position.
