Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has said that his government is conducting a massive investigation into the number of federal government employees in the country.

Mr. Tinubu stated this when he was meeting with the president of the World Bank, Mr. Ajay Banga who visited him at his palace in Abuja

In a statement issued by the President's spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu said, "we will conduct a massive investigation, and review the salary structure of the federal government employees".

"I don't agree with the number of people on the payroll of my federal government employees. I was faced with the same problem when I was governor."

Tinubu said that his government is ready to block any channel through which government funds are siphoned off.

The statement said that the research will be conducted to reform the government work system in the country, along with changing the habits of the citizens and raising public awareness.

The president also said that his government is currently conducting an investigation into the Central Bank of the country, CBN.

Weeks after Bola Tinubu was sworn in as president, he suspended the governor of the central bank, Godwin Emefiele, for alleged misconduct.
