Removing my name from ministers is a decision from God - Maryam Shetty
The woman whose name was removed by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu from the list of names he sent to the National Assembly to determine as ministers of his government, Dr. Maryam Shetty said that it was fate that made her name removed.
In a long message that she published on her Facebook page, Maryam Shetty said that she could not express how happy she felt when she saw her name in the list of people who want to be appointed as ministers of the country.
And that, according to her, is a sign that shows that Nigeria is ready to ensure a good future for women, especially young people like her.
However, Dr. Shetty said that the fate that she had hoped for, was effective in removing her name from the list.
She said, "Some people see this as a setback for me, but as a Muslim, I consider it as a decision from God, who gives power to whomever He wants, and in when he wanted''.
She also added that despite this incident, she is expressing her gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for naming her as he did earlier.
Dr. Maryam also said that this did not discourage her, because according to her she is full of motivation to serve her country.
"I want to assure my supporters that this is not the end, it has just begun, so please continue to pray for our country and support our president."
On Wednesday, the President of the country sent the names of 19 people including Dr. Maryam Shetti to the National Assembly to determine them as ministers.
Placing Shetty's name in the list has caused heated debate especially on social media in the north of the country, as her name came as a surprise to many people.
However, on Friday, when the ministers were being selected, the president sent the names of two people to the parliament, where he announced the withdrawal of the name of Dr. Maryam Shetty, and replaced her with Dr. Mariya Mairiga Mahmud.
