We Do Not Support Reconciliation With Guns In Niger State - Security Expert

Security experts in Nigeria continue to question the position taken by the governor of Niger State that he wants to make peace with the bandits who continue to destroy people in the state.

The governor of Nejan state, Umar Muhammed Bago, has come out and expressed his desire to see reconciliation with these bandits who killed about 30 Nigerian soldiers in the state last week and took away thousands of people's cattle from Zungeru area.

Now reports have confirmed that Boko Haram militants have re-established their flag in Shiroro area near one of the dams that provide electricity in Nigeria.

In his interview with the voice of America, Hon. Suleman Dauda Chukuba, a former Nigerian soldier and the former chairman of Shiroro local government, who is struggling with these bandits, said that he does not support reconciliation with these assailants, because even in the past it was done but without success.

He added that they used to receive millions of dollars in ransom, so he did not see what could be done to stop them.

Suleman Chukuba said that even other states where reconciliation was said to have been done like Zamfara state, the situation has not been effective.

Right now, apart from the issue of reconciliation, the government of Niger State said that it will further involve the rulers of the country in order to achieve success, according to the new Commissioner of Local Governments and the Kingdom of Niger State, Alh. Mu'azu Hamidu Jantabo.
