Cement companies agreed to reduce its price
The companies that participated in the meeting also expressed their intention to reduce the price of cement once the government fulfills the promises of taking data to them.
This agreement was reached between the federal government and the cement companies during a meeting organized by the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Works, the cement processing companies and the federal government have agreed that the price of cement has fluctuated in some parts of Nigeria. In fact, the price of a bag of cement weighing 50 kilos should not be between 7,000 and 8,000 naira.
"Therefore, the three cement companies including: Dangote, BUA and Lafarge have agreed that the price of a 50 kilo bag of cement will not exceed 7,000 to 8,000 naira depending on the distance."
"The government has also advised the cement processing companies to come up with a system that will adjust the price and make sure to pay for it in the future, and the companies have accepted the decision to implement this and punish their dealers who have been found to be defrauded." ifar."
The statement continued that, "the government expects the price of cement to drop after fulfilling the promises of data collection to solve the problems of the companies on gas, import tax, goods distribution and road repair. It was agreed to meet again in 30 days to review the progress made."
According to Uzoka Anite, efforts are being made to address the reasons behind the simultaneous increase in the price of consumer goods.
