Nigeria - The President of the Senate of Nigeria, Godswill Akpabio said the federal government has given each state governor 30 billion naira to be used to reduce the suffering of the poor people in the cost of living.

Akpabio said this during the session of the Federal Parliament, to continue discussing the situation the people of the country have found themselves in, which is linked to the withdrawal of oil subsidies.

The President of the House said that he got this information from the Internal Revenue Service, which handed over the said money to the states.

Akpabio said these funds are equivalent to the two billion naira given to the governors out of the five billion in loans to provide support to their people to ease the pain of the removal of fuel subsidies.

The president of the council advised the governors to use these huge amounts of money in the right way so that the people of their states get the right support, especially those related to food.

Akpabio said that the introduction of the aid can be achieved through the use of local government leaders because of their closeness to the people in the rural areas.

Akpabio said that no father wants to see his son go to bed without eating, so he urged his colleagues to focus on taking steps to get food wherever they are for the benefit of the people.
