The anti-smuggling agency of Nigeria has started the auction of the cars it seized from criminals with a value of 556 million and 704 thousand naira.
In a statement released by the agency, it said that now there are 462 cars that will be auctioned to the people of the country.
So far, 13,605 people have sent the agency a letter of interest for these cars on its website.
However, the groups of car importers in Nigeria have accused the agency of playing with the public's mind and colluding with the workers by diverting some 300 cars that should also be auctioned.
NAGAFF and the car dealers in the country said that among the cars that will be auctioned, including those whose owners are planning to pay the taxes or fines that should be paid, what they say is cruelty.
10,000 naira has been set aside by the agency as a registration fee for anyone who needs a car, which the president of the group, Alhaji Tanko Ibrahim, said is too much.
On his part, the spokesperson of the customs agency, Abdullahi Maiwada, in a statement he issued, said that the pictures of 476 cars have already been posted on the agency's website for those interested to check which one they want.
Although responding to the accusations of the NAGAFF group, he said that it is unfortunate that some people who call themselves members of the group are telling stories that have no basis and no evidence.
