The Labor Union Will Protest Because of the Cost of Living
The NLC trade union in Nigeria has announced plans to hold a two-day protest because of the high cost of living in the country.
The Chairman of Comrade Joe Ajaero stated this on Friday during a press conference in Abuja, the capital of the country.
According to him, the group will protest on the 27th and 28th of this month of February to attract the attention of the authorities on how Nigerians are suffering from the pressure of life.
The group also said that it will hold the rally because of the deterioration of security in parts of the country.
The problem of kidnapping people for ransom is rampant in parts of the country including the city of Abuja where the presidential palace is located.
Ajaero said the protest will continue a week after the completion of the two-week deadline given by the group to the Nigerian authorities which will end on February 23.
The problem of inflation, especially of consumer goods, has put Nigerians in a difficult situation as the value of the Naira continues to fall.
The authorities said that they are taking the necessary measures, including taking out food from government warehouses to be distributed to the public.
Last week, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the release of 102,000 tonnes of rice and maize from the federal food warehouse.
On Thursday, he met with the governors of the 36 states of the country to find ways to solve the country's problems.
