 The President of Somaliland has vowed to implement the agreement with Ethiopia

Somaliland president Muse Bihi Abdi said his government is determined to implement the water agreement signed with Ethiopia on January 1.

Under the agreement, Somaliland will lease a 20-kilometer area in the Strait of Aden to Ethiopia for 50 years, in order to be recognized as an independent country.

The president made this comment yesterday while attending a meeting held in the capital of Somaliland, Hargeisa, hours after the Somali cabinet approved the maritime security agreement with Turkey.

Abdi demanded that the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, be limited in the area under his control, warning that Turkey and Egypt "will not take Somalia anywhere".

Egypt is protesting against the agreement that Somaliland signed with Ethiopia.
