 We are not running away from the changes we will bring - Tinubu

The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has emphasized the determination of his government to see that economic reforms are implemented in the country despite the challenges many people are facing.

The president defended his government's changes, saying that there is no running back.

During his meeting with a delegation from the CCA business group under the leadership of its president Florizelle Liser, President Tinubu emphasized his intention to achieve his goal of developing the Nigerian economy and bringing stability to the country.

During his swearing in, Tinubu announced the withdrawal of fuel subsidy which led to the increase in the price of fuel and other changes that caused the value of the naira to lose its value.

These changes have led to unprecedented cost of living in Nigeria which has led to cost of living protests across the country and strikes among others.

But despite these challenges and events, Tinubu said he will not back down.

“I am happy that CCA is interested in different sectors of the Nigerian economy. We are in the middle of facing the challenge of reforming ourselves. We have hope, no doubt, but we will not go back," said Tinubu through his spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale.

"We are facing challenges, and we believe we will overcome these challenges. I have an 'I can achieve anything' attitude which must be translated into an attitude of obligation to achieve what I want. We have a good team and and effective, and we must continue to focus to achieve the goals set in front," said the Nigerian president.

Tinubu has repeatedly called on the people of the country to be patient in order to allow his reforms to take effect, saying that they will help attract foreign investment, but his measures are frustrating Nigerians.

Tinubu also commended the recent success of the 45,000km submarine cable that brought internet to Akwa Ibom state, which will connect the South-South region of Nigeria with Europe and other parts of Africa.

President Tinubu explained the importance of this victory, where he explained that if there are good policies, cooperation and determination, Nigeria will be able to overcome the problems it has been facing for a long time.

He affirmed his determination to create an enabling environment for business to flourish, focusing on investing in key sectors such as agriculture, energy, health and technology.

"We will increase our focus on security and investment in education, because we believe that education is the main weapon in the fight against poverty. We welcome partners like CCA, and we will strengthen our cooperation to achieve our goals,” said the president.

In its response, the CCA expressed its determination to support the economic development of Nigeria in the ways that the administration of President Tinubu has prioritized.
