Yoruba tribe defender Sunday Igboho returned to Nigeria

The advocate of Yoruba tribe in Nigeria, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Igboho has returned to Nigeria almost three years after he left the country for Benin Republic.

A statement issued by the spokesman of Igboho, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed that the Yoruba defender is in Nigeria to attend his mother's funeral which will be held in Igboho and Ibadan.

In a video posted on the internet, Mr. Adeyemo was seen waving to the people of Igboho as he entered the town to go to his mother's funeral.

His mother died in 2023 when he fled to Benin Republic.

Igboho left Nigeria in 2021 after an altercation between his aides and DSS officers who raided his house in Soka area of Ibadan in Oyo state.

Sunday Igboho, who is seeking freedom for the Yoruba tribe, fled to Benin after the DSS declared that it was seeking to impeach him.

Igboho was detained in Benin Republic in October 2021 when he was trying to travel to Germany.

He was accused of dealing with criminals but was recently released after spending two years in Benin prison.
