Cholera: Flood Closes 14 Buildings Due to Lack of Toilets, Warns Homeowners

 The Kwara State Environmental Management Agency has closed 14 buildings for violating environmental regulations, mainly due to the lack of clean toilets.

The closed buildings are in Sabo-Oke (8 buildings) and Onikun-Kewu Road, Adabata (6 buildings), in Ilorin South and Ilorin West local governments.

The state's Environment Commissioner, Hajiya Nafisat Musa Buge, disclosed this while talking to the media on Wednesday. She also emphasized the resolution of the state government to ensure environmental sanitation to prevent cholera and other diseases that threaten health.

Buge assured the public that investigations will continue in all 16 local governments in the state to ensure compliance with environmental laws. She urged house owners to provide clean toilets in their houses, and warned that non-compliance will lead to prosecution under Section 5, Sub-section 2 of the Kwara State Environmental Laws.

The commissioner called on tenants in the area to support the government's efforts to provide a clean living environment for everyone.
