IPOB: Nigeria wants Simon Ekpa extradited

The Nigerian Defence Academy has expressed its delight at the arrest of Simon Ekpa, the leader of the banned IPOB group, in Finland.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, made this known after the Finnish authorities announced his arrest.

In a statement to the BBC, the Defence Staff Spokesperson, Major General Tukur Gusau, said the Chief of Defence Staff hoped the arrest would be a step towards extraditing Mr Ekpa to Nigeria to face justice.

Finnish authorities arrested Simon Ekpa on Thursday and remanded him to prison after arraigning him in court on charges of inciting people to commit acts of terrorism.
