 Sudanese army rejects UK ceasefire proposal

The Sudanese army has welcomed the adoption of a new UN resolution seeking to end the country's civil war.

Sudan's military government has accused Britain, which introduced the resolution at the Security Council, of interfering in Sudan's internal affairs.

The resolution was difficult to present to the council on Monday, with Russia taking the veto.

The US special envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, is expected to make a statement this week after visiting Sudan and neighboring Djibouti for talks.
