The Presidency says President Tinubu has reshuffled the functions of his appointed media relations officers to improve the sector.

A statement by President Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Bayo Onanuga, said that all three appointed media relations officers will now be the presidential spokespersons.

However, the statement said that Mr. Sunday Dare is now the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Relations.

Similarly, Mr. Daniel Bwala, who was last week announced as the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Relations, will now hold the position of Special Adviser on Government Policy.

The statement said that considering the presence of Bayo Onanuga, who is the aide to President Tinubu on government strategy, “it will be seen that there is no single person holding the position of Presidential Spokesperson”.

“Therefore, all three special advisers will be government spokespersons.”

There have been long-standing rumours of a rift within President Tinubu’s media team, with some officials overlapping with others.

In September, the President’s spokesman, Ajuri Nagelele, resigned from his post “due to personal reasons”, as he put it.

However, several media outlets have reported that his resignation is not unrelated to the ongoing rift between the officials appointed by President Tinubu in the media wing of the Presidency.
