The Supreme Court of Nigeria has overruled the decision of the Court of Appeal to suspend Nyesom Wike's right-hand man, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, as the national secretary of the PDP.

In a judgment delivered by a five-man panel of judges delivered by Justice Jamilu Tukur, the Kolin court criticized the Court of Appeal and the Enugu State High Court for engaging in what it called internal conflict.

Earlier, the High Court in Enugu removed Anyanwu as the secretary of the party based on a complaint filed by a member of the PDP, Mr. Aniagu Emmanuel.

Similarly, the Court of Appeal in the state upheld the decision of the High Court which approved Chief Udeh-Okoye as the replacement of Senator Anyanwu as the party secretary.

After disagreeing with the decision, Anyanwu appealed to the Supreme Court.

Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye started a conflict over the position of party secretary after Anyanwu left the position to contest in the Imo governorship election which he lost.

After his defeat, the attempt to return to his seat plunged the party into a crisis that brought about division among the members of the party.
