Raleigh, North Carolina (WTVD) -- It's football season again in college, and on Thursday night, two Triangle teams want to get off to a good start.
At Carter-Finley Stadium, NC State plays ECU in a game with a lot of history.
Historic because this is the first time in Wolfpack history that they start the season against the team they finished the previous season against.
The last game wasn't nice either.
There was a fight between the teams during the 2024 Military Bowl, which the Pirates won 26–21.
Some fans told ABC11 that the competition is still strong, but they are glad that ECU is back in Raleigh.
"That's pretty crazy. One NC State junior said, "I mean, we like that place and know a lot of people who go there." "A lot of my friends from home go to ECU." The week has been pretty talky, but we're trying to be nice to each other and still love each other. But for sure from afar right now."
A lot of excited fans can't wait to find out what happens. The game starts at 7 p.m. at Carter-Finley.
At 7:30 p.m., Duke plays Elon in Durham.
