FRISCO, Texas - Kenny Clark is not the key figure in this move, but a great figure in his own right and will benefit the Cowboys immediately.
They are receiving a three time Pro Bowl player and a defensive tackle, a position that they have to fill. Clark is a true nose tackle, and would probably afford the defense some strength it needs in the middle by playing beside Osa Odighizuwa.
The 30-year-old Clark is a nine year veteran of the Packers. He has skipped only eight games in his career. He has attended every game during the past three years, 17 games.
Out of the 35 career sacks that Clark had, only one was last year and that was the least he had ever had in his first year.
It is a funny thing that the Cowboys showed interest in Clark in the 2016 NFL Draft. Though they selected Jaylon Smith with 34 th position during the second round, they still had interest in Clark. He was taken at No 27 by the Packers off the board.
Clark is left with three years in his deal and the cap cost per year is approximately 23 million dollars. It is slightly more than Odighizuwa, who recently received an off-season four-year, 80 million dollar agreement.
Solomon Thomas, Mazi Smith and Perrion Winfrey are all veterans and will play in the defensive end room.
