Popular Nigerian artist Asake has elicited responses following a leaked video of the artist on the internet.
The singer became famous under Olamide with his YBNL label, and then started his own label, Giran Republic; recently, he was caught on the road without tattoos on his body.
Asake has had his various tattoos over a year, which most of his contemporaries thought was similar to the black American artiste style. Even some online users speculated that his tattoos and his distinctive hairstyle were attributed to the fact that he was selling his soul to fame.
But on Friday, September 26, 2025, Asake left many online users shocked as he walked out in his official clothes with a new hairstyle, looking like a corporate professional in every sense of the word and it did not end there.
The Video
In another clip that went viral on social media, Asake is observed driving a shiny black vehicle with a sleek haircut paired with a sharp suit on. Not only is he dressed up, but he is also displaying a tattoo-free body that has left fans who have been accustomed to his tattooed appearance appalled.
In the background, Asake is dancing to a new song "Getting Paid" by Sarz and Wizkid with Skillibeng. The song is already gaining momentum over its catchy song as well as the celebrity-run ensemble.
Fans React
"What a transformation!" - @LilPainkiller sends a tweet that includes the official account of Asake.
He has gone corporate but retained that vibe. - @MusicBabeNaira comments.
Thought to be a new brand, or maybe a mood. - NigerianVibes is a poll question on Twitter.
Some fans question whether this change means a new chapter in Asake career: too many speculations.
Why the Change Matters
Image & Branding: Asake used a heavily tattooed image in the past, which appealed to the street-style foundation. The new appearance can expand his mainstream market and corporate sponsorship.
Artistic Development: The new song, Getting Paid, is a mature and group effort, a great complement to his polished image.
Social Media Buzz: The viral clip has already been viewed more than 4M times on Tik Tok and liked by more than 2M people on Instagram and proves that a rapid change in aesthetic can be used as a remedy.
What to Expect Next
More Releases: As the hype of the release of the album "Getting Paid" is behind them, people expect the coming out of the new EP or album by Giran Republic.
Brand Partnerships: A company appearance typically correlates with advertising partnerships, and look out to the partnership with renowned fashion or automotive companies.
Concerts & Tours: A new wardrobe could also be accompanied by a bigger stage during future tours.
