In her newly published memoir, Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark, the actress and horror movie hostess reveals a lot about her partner, Teresa "T" Wierson, a trainer who became her friend, assistant and eventually her lifetime love.At the time, when she felt that she was emotionally and sexually closed for business, Wierson came to live with her after Peterson was divorced. Wierson had parted with her own man and had appeared on the door of Peterson with nowhere to go.
The entertainer tells how the presence of Wierson was in fact a great relief and she started to feel happier with her than she had in years.
During one evening, when her daughter was at the ex-husband of Peterson, the two went out to watch a movie. In one of the chapters, she writes that when they got home, she told her goodnight and felt like kissing her, on the mouth.
The actor continues by saying that she had never thought of women before that time as more than friends but she started falling in love with Wierson and eventually she discloses that the two have lasted over 19 years together.
In Yours Cruelly, Elvira, Peterson writes that she is glad and relieved to have finally given out the details of their relationship to the light of the day.
The actress divides the secret of their romance into career grounds, citing the fact that Elvira loves men and the fact that men love her-the character has become well known, in large part, because of her legendary, cleavage-bearing black dress. She writes that she was concerned that, in case she declared that she was not living the so-called straight life, her fans will feel cheated, she will be labeled as a hypocrite and will desert her. The couple however did not make their relationship a secret among their friends and family members.
Peterson proceeds to compliment Wierson saying, "It is the first person in my life who has made me feel safe, blessed, and truly loved.
