Nollywood actress Regina Daniels supported reality TV star Phyna after she showed up at a club a few weeks after her younger sister Ruth Otabor's funeral. The video quickly went viral, and people on social media had a range of responses.
Ruth died in a terrible accident involving a Dangote truck in Edo State in August, not long after finishing from Auchi Polytechnic. She was buried on September 13, 2025.
Phyna was seen dancing to her new song "Bend Down" with Regina Daniels and a few other people at a club party in a video that went popular on X and was shared by @chukserice.
A lot of her friends were shocked that she went out so soon, only a few weeks after her sister died. Some people were so mean that they called her out, saying she looked happy and not like someone who was sad. But when people spoke out against her online, Regina defended her by saying that just because she's having fun doesn't mean she doesn't cry alone.
In the past, Phyna said that Dangote Group was careless and insensitive in how they handled her sister's medical care and funeral. More recently, she said that they lied to her family and wouldn't give them the money they asked for.
Many people thought the party on the night out was wrong at this time. Others reminded us that there is no one "right" way to mourn, and that everyone deals with loss in their own unique way.
As the debate goes on online, Phyna's actions are still being looked at closely, with friends and outsiders alike criticising and supporting her.
