"The Air Force will now be escorting the train from Kaduna-Abuja." Cewar Amaechi
The Nigerian government has said that from now on, the Abuja-Kaduna train will be escorted by planes as soon as it is operational.
Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi made the announcement on Wednesday when he visited the state to witness the aftermath of a robbery on Monday, which left eight people dead.
After inspecting the injured at the 44th Military Hospital in Kaduna, Mr Amaechi also met with Air Chief Marshal IO Amao and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna.
"I have told the Air Force chief that once we complete the railway repairs, the aircraft will continue to operate under the auspices of the Air Force until security equipment is deployed at a distance as instructed by the President," Amaechi said. in a Twitter message.
The minister accused his "colleagues" of obstructing the flow of water since his ministry had previously sought funding for security cameras.
