Elephants have attacked Gamboru Ngala area in Borno state
Farmers in the Gamboru Ngala area of Borno state, which borders Cameroon in Nigeria, have called on the authorities to help them because of the damage elephants are doing to their farms in the area.
Reports indicate that the elephants often attack the farms of local residents in the middle of the night to eat their crops.
"Honestly, I can't tell you how many elephants there are. Now the whole town at night we will go out and burn the trees, playing music to drive them away." Alhaji Katomi, one of the residents said.
According to the residents of the area, the types of crops they destroy include yams, beans and other plants.
"Our request is for the government or private agencies to support us." Alhaji Abba Greman Ngala said.
