Somalia has banned the use of the word 'al-Shabab' for the terrorist group
Somalia's religious affairs authority has banned the use of the word al-Shabab - which in Arabic means 'Youth' - for the country's terrorist group.
The government called on the people of the country to call the group by the name of "Khawarij" which means those who rebelled.
The country's government said that the order to call al-Shabab as "Khawarij" is part of its policy to fight against the group.
This is not the first time Somalia has given al-Shabab a different name
In 2015, the country's government also told the media to call the group by the name of 'Ugus', a protest that the citizens of the country make against the group that massacred the citizens of the country.
In its response, the group warned of punishing anyone who followed the government's order, including journalists, in calling it by its new name.
Last month, the country's authorities banned the country's media from reporting on the organization's activities
