Atiku Abubakar Risks Kano's Votes As Court Sacks Wali Says That Abacha is the PDP Candidate For Governor.

Atiku Abubakar Today Thursday, a Federal high court in Kano said that Muhammad Abacha, a member of the Abacha dynasty, is the rightful Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor in Kano.

The court then told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize and publish Muhammad Abacha's name as the PDP's legally nominated candidate for the governor's race in the state next year.

Alh.  Atiku Abubakar, who is running for president as a member of the PDP, and the National Working Committee have both named Wali as the party flagbearer in Kano. The controversial situation made it less likely that  Atiku Abubakar would win in Kano.

In a ruling handed down by Justice A.M. Liman on Thursday, via zoom, Sadiq Wali was also told to stop presenting himself as the PDP candidate for governor of Kano.

Justice Liman let all of Abacha's cases go forward on the grounds that he was legally nominated during the party's primary, which was led by Sagagi. He also said that votes for him were still legal.

Justice Liman faulted INEC for taking Abacha's name off the list of gubernatorial candidates in the first place. He also said that section 84 (1)(5)b of the electoral Act 2022 makes it illegal for the electoral umpire to have taken Abacha's name off the list after he won the primary election and replaced it with Wali.
In his originating summon, Abacha had asked the court to name him the winner of the Party Primary Election that took place on May 25, 2022, because delegates had voted for him.

He also asked the court to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), its officers, agents, and privies from recognizing Sadiq Aminu Wali or anyone else other than himself as the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Kano State for the 2023 Governorship Elections.

Abacha Jr. also told the court that he got the most votes in the party's primary election, but INEC still picked Mr. Wali as the party's candidate.

Muhammad Sani Abacha, Sadiq Aminu Wali, and Sani Bello are all fighting hard to be the PDP candidate for governor in Kano.
So, while Abacha was in court fighting for the ticket, another candidate, Jafar Sani Bello, filed a new suit against both Mohammed Abacha and Sadiq Wali for not being qualified according to the Nigerian constitution, the Electoral Act, and the PDP constitution.

In the same way, Jafar Sani Bello joined INEC in the suit against the party for recognizing Sadiq Wali as a flag bearer. He asked the court to add him as a party to a suit he started, and Wali was added.

In response to the verdict, a leader of the party named Zakari Wali said he was unhappy with it and insisted that the verdict would be fought in the higher court.
