An online letter that has gone viral claims that the Finnish government has threatened to detain Simon Ekpa, a self-described follower of Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu (IPOB). Videos of Ekpa issuing a sit-at-home order across the eastern states of the nation from February 23 to 28 have recently surfaced on Facebook. "There will be a stay-at-home on February 23, 2023. The entire Biafra area will be placed under lockdown on February 24, 2023. The 25th day of February 2023 will see Biafra territory placed behind closed doors. Chickens won't be able to move on February 26, 2023, when Biafra land will be locked off and secured with a lock and key. On February 27, 2023, Biafra's land will be completely secured. "Biafra territory will be secured starting on February 28th, 2023," Ekpa declared in a broadcast. "I want Biafrans to know that these specific dates and days are still up for review, meaning that the sit-at-home protest could be canceled at any time. A curfew will be imposed on two of those days, the 24th and 25th of February 2023, in addition to the affirmation dates. There will be a six-to-six curfew in addition to the sit-at-home order. "Curfew will be imposed on all federal roadways in the following areas: all federal roads heading to Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo state." I want Biafrans to know that on the dates specified, there would be an open conflict between Biafra and Nigeria because we are defending our communities, our customs, and our morals. We would therefore engage everybody that the Nigerian government sends to fight in Biafra. Elections for the national legislature and the presidency are scheduled for February 25.

A letter purporting to be from the Finnish government appeared on social media a few days after the sit-at-home order was withdrawn by the IPOB spokeswoman.

According to a letter reportedly from Sanna Marin, the prime minister of Finland, dated February 15, 2023, Ekpa would be detained and accused of supporting international terrorism if the decision was not overturned within 48 hours.

The letter was also published on a few news sites and by several major figures in the nation.

Adamu Garba, a former senator, and candidate for president applauded the Finnish government for keeping an eye on Ekpa in a tweet on Thursday.

Simon Ekpa is en route to prison in Nigeria. He is being sought by the Finnish authorities. He is now tracked internationally. There is no enemy of this country who will ever succeed, I assure you that. The fight directed towards Nigeria is the worst pointless fight, he said. The tweet received 176 retweets, 510 likes, and 98.8k views. Reports on certain news websites claimed that the letter was sent by the Finnish government. You won't be able to complete the food if the community decides to cook for you. The Finnish government has issued a warning to Simon Ekpa. But was the viral letter written by the Finnish government?

Ima Edem, a media representative for the Finnish government, informed TheCable that the letter was not authentic.

According to her, the letter that is currently making the rounds in the media and purports to be signed by the prime minister of Finland did not come from that country.

"We have reported the Twitter message that was used to spread this phony letter and urged Twitter to take it down," the statement reads.

The letter that went viral and threatened to arrest Ekpa and prosecute him for supporting international terrorism is not from the Finnish government.
