FEC mourns ex-CGS Oladipo Diya
The Federal Executive Council is shocked by the death of Lt-.Gen. Oladipo Diya, who used to be the Chief of General Staff (retd).
Diya died on Sunday at the age of 79. He was the Chief of General Staff for the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.
In a statement released Sunday in Abuja by Mr. Willie Bassey, Director of Information, Office of the SGF, FEC's condolences were sent by Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Mustapha says that the death of Lt. Gen. Oladipo Diya shocked the Federal Executive Council.
Mustapha said that Diya was an experienced military officer who did a great job running the country in the many ways he served.

He also said that Diya was a famous politician who helped build the country in important ways.
Mustapha said, "FEC sends its condolences to the government and people of Ogun State, as well as to his family and friends, and asks God to give the soul of the person who died eternal rest."
Diya was born in Odogbolu, Ogun State, on April 3, 1944.
From January 1984 to August 1985, he was in charge of the military in Ogun State.
