EFCC Arrested Buhari's Former Minister of Electricity
The Economic Corruption Eradication Commission (EFCC) has arrested the former Minister of Electricity, Engineer Saleh Mamman.
According to reports, Saleh Mamman was arrested by the EFCC in the early hours of Wednesday morning where he is being detained at the agency's headquarters in Abuja.
They said the arrest was related to the alleged embezzlement of some funds worth about 22 billion naira.
So far, no response has been heard from the minister or some of his close associates.
A source told Focus News Hausa, Aminiya that the(EFCC officers arrested Saleh Mamman in connection with a series of investigations on the alleged implementation of some electronic projects.
According to reports, the former minister is accused of colluding with some officials in the Ministry of Electricity who are in charge of the account of the works money in Mambilla and Zungeru power stations, to divert 22 billion naira, and share it among them.
According to reports, investigations have revealed some properties in Nigeria and foreign countries linked to the suspected officials, and millions of naira and dollars have been reported.
On September 1, 2021, President Buhari dismissed the Minister of Electricity after appointing him in August 2019.
The resignation was contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the president, Femi Adesina, after the meeting of the Supreme Council.
The move is part of the reforms that President Buhari is implementing, according to Femi Adesina.
