It is unlikely to end the conflict in Sudan in the near future - MDD

It will be impossible to stop the war in Sudan, according to the chief aid officer of the UN, because the parties involved haven't made any effort to do it.

After visiting Port Sudan on the Black Sea coast, Martin Griffiths spoke to the BBC.

He claimed that there is a lot of worries about how the situation is spreading.

And because the parties have refused to recognize it, all efforts to bring about a truce in the nation have failed, he continued.

He claimed that in order to ensure that relief is given fast and to resolve the issue, he called on the generals engaged in conflict to sit at the reconciliation table.

He claimed that although the two opposing parties had discussed their perspectives on humanitarian values, there appeared to be no determination to put an end to the fight.

The last truce has broken down, and a new seven-day ceasefire is about to start.
