 Lassa disease has killed 154 people in Nigeria - NCDC


According to the Nigerian Centre for Communicable Diseases (NCDC), 154 persons have died from Lassa fever in 26 states since the start of this year.

NCDC reported that 897 cases of the disease were reported in the first four months of 2023, according to the disease situation report that was made public by the organization on Monday.

According to the center, Ondo, Edo, Bauchi, Taraba, Benue, Plateau, Ebonyi, Nassarawa, Kogi, Taraba, Gombe, Enugu, Kano, Jigawa, and other states have reported cases of the sickness.

According to the report, "154 deaths occurred between the first week and the 16th of this year."

According to the NCDC, 72 percent of the disease was detected in three states, including Ondo, Edo, and Bauchi, while 28 percent of the disease was found in 23 different states.

According to the data, more people now have the disease than during the same time in 2022.
