Fatima Muhammad Sani, who is 17 years old, was picked up by police in Bauchi State because they thought she and her sister Zulaihat, who is 15, were planning to beat up a girl.
The 19-year-old woman, Sa'adatu Abdurrahman Liman, is said to have been led to a house in the Gida Dubu area of Bauchi local government, where she was beaten and hot water was poured on her face.
SP Ahmed Wakil, who is the spokesman for the state police, told the press on Tuesday, "The 19-year-old girl, Fatima Muhammad Sani, and her sister, Zulaihat, took her to a house in the Gida Dubu neighborhood. They planned to hurt Sa'adatu, and then they beat her and poured hot water on her.
"The suspects did this horrible thing because they think the girl likes Fatimah's husband."
Wakil said that the police officers at the Bauchi police headquarters were able to save the woman, who had major injuries on her neck and cheeks. They rushed her to the state specialist hospital for treatment.
He made sure that the suspects admitted to the crime when they were being questioned.
He also said that after the probe is done, they will be brought before the court.
