Minister backs Ododo to win and do well in office in Kogi 2023
Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, has thrown her support behind Usman Ododo, the candidate for governor of Kogi State for the All Progressives Congress. She said that Ododo's rise was a sign of the "excellent leadership" of Governor Yahaya Bello.
The minister said this on Monday when he met the party's governorship candidate and his group in Abuja. He was sure that the APC would win "resoundingly" in the November 11 governorship election.
She told him, "I'd like to congratulate you on becoming our party's candidate. Your win at the primary is a victory for your dedication. Don't ever stop being yourself.
"At first, I was worried about how many people were running. But because of how well the governor led, the primary went off without a hitch and was a success.
"For me, the party comes first, and no matter how much we disagree, when the party makes a decision, I usually go along with it. I was the first woman to lead our great party at the national level. I know that party choices are the most important. We will help Alh. Ododo win, and we will also help him do well."
The FCT Minister of State asked all candidates to keep supporting the party's choice, saying that Kogi is very important to the APC and that they should keep supporting the party's choice.
She thinks it's important that the governor is replaced by a leader with direction who will build on what he's already done.
Ododo thanked the minister for voting for his party in the last general election and told her that his campaign would build on the progress made by the GYB.
Ododo told the minister that if he was chosen, his government would focus on the same things as the current government in the state.
Deedat Ozigi, a former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs who also ran for the party's governorship seat in the primary, thanked the minister for her support and said that most of the candidates were behind Ododo to move Kogi State forward.
In the group were Kingsley Fanwo, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications; Bashir Gegu, the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals; Haddi Ametuo, the governor's special adviser on political matters; Usman Ogbo, the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic; Isah Usman; and House of Representatives and House of Assembly members-elect from Kogi State who ran on the APC platform, as well as other party leaders.
Before the off-season governorship election on November 11, 2023, the APC candidate for governor in Kogi has been meeting with more people from the state.
