Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Condemns Emefiele's Suspension
Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, the top group of the Igbo tribe, said that the removal of Godwin Emefiele as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria was an act of tribalism on Saturday.
The national head of the group, Mazi Chima Uzor, told the media about this in a statement from the group.
The group said that Emefiele's suspension was illegal and that it was part of the government's plan to get rid of people from the Igbo tribe who worked in government jobs.
"The Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo International Organization condemns the decision of President Bola Tinubu's government to suspend Dr. Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria," the statement said.
"This suspension is against the law, and his arrest by the DSS, even though the court said not to, is a bad thing that all Nigerians must condemn." We think this is part of the plan by the new government to get rid of Igbo people from government jobs.
"This is just the Igbo people being hunted for no reason because they voted against the new government in the last election."
"Because of this, we're asking President Bola Tinubu to start his term without doing anything that could cause chaos in the country.
"He should reverse this decision, which gave Dr. Emefiele the chance to finish his term as governor of the Central Bank, instead of causing chaos and ruining all the plans that the CBN carried out while Emefiele was in charge."
