 Professor Rasheed, the National Universities Commission's (NUC) secretary, has resigned.

Professor Abubakar Rasheed, the Secretary General of the National Universities Commission (NUC), has resigned willingly in order to carry on with his duties as an instructor at the Bayero University Kano (BUK), where he was appointed this year. position.

Professor Rasheed said he served as the commission's executive secretary for seven years, revealing this to journalists on Monday in Abuja.

Following the approval and issuance of the licence to the third institution owned by Kogi State, Rasheed's departure was made public.

The state's Kabba Local Government will be home to the new institution.

The executive secretary of NUC, Abubakar Rasheed, said the institution will be the 62nd university owned by the state government nationwide as he handed the certificate of approval to the governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, in Abuja on Monday.

Rasheed notified the Tertiary Education Fund (TETFund) and the University Entrance Examination Board (JAMB) to construct this university.

"On behalf of the Commission, Kogi State University Kabba has been recognised as the 62nd university owned by the State Government in the nation as of June 26, 2023," he declared.

After having approved other universities across the nation during his seven-year term, he announced the new university to be his final task for the Commission.

Earlier, Governor Bello declared that the university establishment bill had been forwarded to the Kogi Legislative Assembly for approval.

The governor expressed the hope that the new institution would begin taking students before his tenure ended and acknowledged that there are ways to build it.
