The extreme heat has cooled 6,700 pilgrims in Saudi Arabia so far

The number of persons hospitalised for heatstroke in Saudi Arabia's sacred places of worship continues to rise, as do the treatment facilities for those affected by the sun's heat.

The event is related to the pilgrims' disregard for the guidelines intended to shield them from the sweltering sun.

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health has advised pilgrims to avoid needless traffic, wear sunglasses, drink lots of water, and protect themselves from the sun's extreme heat.

Men were also urged by the ministry to avoid standing for extended periods of time.

According to the Ministry, 6,700 people have received relief from the day's extreme heat since the Hajj's start this year.

The worst case occurred yesterday, when 2,200 people were injured by the heat, including 261 who were in a severe state.
