Between January and June of this year, the Nigerian Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) reported collecting 5.5 trillion naira in taxes.

This was said by the commission's chairman, Muhammad Nami, during the nation's Economic Council meeting on Thursday at the Government House in Abuja.

According to the agency's release, this is the first time in the past six months that it has amassed the most tax money.

According to the report that Muhammad Nami gave to the economic council, the agency's collection exceeded its projections for the first half of the year.

The agency had earlier predicted to earn 5.3 trillion naira in the first half of the year.

The report also reveals that the commission's tax collection in the fuel industry, at 2.03 trillion naira, is the largest of all.

The agency also has 3.76 trillion other sources' money that it has collected.
