Ghana's gold wealth has increased

According to the Central Bank of Ghana, it anticipates doubling its present holdings of gold within the next five years.

The Ghanaian government has said that it possesses more gold this year than last.

During the fourth meeting on the subject of the export of Ghanaian gold, Dr. Ernest Addison, governor of the Central Bank of Ghana, made this announcement.

According to the central bank governor, there has been an increase of more than 7.70 tonnes of gold, according to the Ghana News Agency.

He clarified that the large mining corporations owned 80% of the gold and the nation's tiny miners owned the other 20%.

According to him, the increase was made possible by the domestic gold sales programme, which was started in 2021 with the goal of increasing the amount of gold in the nation's central bank by purchasing locally produced gold with national currency.

He stated that prior to the implementation of this strategy in 2021, Ghana has only 8.77 tonnes of gold; the bank's objective is to double that amount to 17.4 tonnes in five years.

Dr. Ernest outlined how Ghana's increase will significantly aid the country in developing its economy.

More gold is found in Ghana than in any other nation in Africa. The administration of the nation recently released a statement claiming that 3.08 million ounces of gold were produced in 2022, which is an increase over the 2.72 million ounces produced in 2021.
