Iran's President Praises Uganda's Anti-Homosexuality Law

On Thursday, Iran's President Ibrahim Raisi concluded his journey to three African nations by traveling to Zimbabwe, following stops in Kenya and Uganda.

Raisi claimed that the West is supporting homosexuality to put an end to what he called "the future of the human race" while he was in Uganda.

Following the passage of a law in Uganda last May that carries severe consequences for homosexuals, including the death penalty, Raisi paid a visit there.

Speaking via her mouth, Raisi defined homosexuality as an assault on the foundations of descent and legacy during his one-day visit to Uganda this week. He claimed that Uganda and Iran could work together to combat homosexuality.

He asserted that homosexuality is one of the dirtiest topics and that the West was attempting to normalize it.

Raisi said this to express his support for Uganda's decision to enact one of the harshest anti-homosexual laws in the entire world.

The May law that was passed makes encouraging homosexuality punishable by death and up to 20 years in jail. Some Ugandans fled to Kenya, which is nearby, as a result of the action.

The action, according to US Vice President Joe Biden, was "inappropriate" and "disgraceful."

"They keep saying that Western countries are pushing their ideology on Uganda, but we still have other countries interfering and pushing their values in Uganda," human rights campaigner Frank Mugisha said. For instance, we are aware that Iran funds anti-homosexual organizations here.

According to Mugisha, gays have been subjected to numerous abuses from landlords and municipal officials ever since the law against homosexuality was passed.

In an effort to strengthen ties between Iran and the continent, Raisi traveled to three African nations.
