Nigerian authorities have fined telecommunications companies

The officials of the ARCEP began their explanation of the investigation their officers did in the places where people had complained about the poor quality of cell phone lines in the year 2021 at the news conference they convened on Monday, July 17.

Following an investigation by the agency's staff in the states of the nation, it was discovered that many of the mobile phone companies had committed crimes that were in violation of the agreement they had made with the Nigerian government before being granted a licence to operate. As a result, the telecommunications company management agency in the Republic of Niger fined some of the companies thousands of millions of CFA.

The ARCEP officials began their explanation of the investigation that their officers did in the locations where individuals in the year 2021 complained about the bad quality of the telephone connection at the news conference they scheduled on Monday, July 17.

The ARCEP agency claimed that it provided these enterprises with numerous opportunities to stop committing crimes; nevertheless, all of those attempts were unsuccessful, which is why they were fined in accordance with Nigerean legislation.

Voice of America called Hashim Ali, an official at Zamani Communications, to ask what the company's position was on this choice. He did not pick up the phone, but Malam Talibi, an official at Niger Telecom, said he would get back to us when he had more information.
