NJC recommends appointment of Ariwoola’s son and 22 other judges to Tinubu (See Full list)
Olukayode Ariwoola Junior, the son of Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, has been recommended by the National Judicial Council (NJC) for appointment as a judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria.
Along with 22 other candidates who successfully completed the Council's screening and interview process, Junior was recommended for the Federal High Court Bench.
Soji Oye, the NJC's director of information, revealed this in a statement on Friday, July 14, 2023.
The NJC sought the appointment of one Kadi for Kaduna State and four more Kadis for the Kano State Sharia Court of Appeal in addition to the 23 nominations for the Federal High Court.
The Council's 103rd sitting, which was held in Abuja and presided over by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, recommended the appointments.
Hussaini Dadan-Garba, Egbe Raphael Joshua, Anyalewa Onoja-Alapa, Aishatu Auta Ibrahim, Ogazi Friday Nkemakonam, Ogundare Kehinde Olayiwola, Onah Chigozie Sergius, Hauwa Buhari, Ibrahim Ahmad Kala, and Hauwa Joseph Yilwa are among those who have been proposed as Federal High Court judges.
Amina Aliyu Mohammed, Sharon Tanko Ishaya, Chituru Joy Wigwe-Oreh, Musa Kakaki, Owoeye Alexander Oluseyi, Abiodun Jordan Adeyemi, Agbaje Olufunmilola Adetutu, and Salim Olasupo Ibrahim are more names that come highly recommended.
Dipeolu Deinde Isaac, Ariwoola Olukayode Jr., Abdullahi Muhammad Dan-Ige, and Mashkur Salisu make up the remaining group.
Additionally, it was said that Grand Kadi for Kaduna State will be Kadi Muhammad Aminu Danjuma.
In addition, four additional people will be chosen to serve as Kadis on the Kano State Sharia Court of Appeal. They are Aliyu Muhammad Kani, Muhammad Adam Kadem, Salisu Muhammad Isa, and Isa Idris Sa'id.
According to the statement, all proposed candidates will be sworn in upon the President's approval of the NJC's recommendations, as well as the approval of their respective State Governors and State Houses of Assembly, as applicable.
